Set up an event

From a new event to a page guests can open and answer.

  1. Create the event

On Events, click New event. Pick whose event it is, give it a name, and set the starting date and venue if you know them yet. If this is like one you have run before, use Start from a previous event to copy its settings, sub-events, RSVP form, page and email templates. Guests are never copied.

  2. Check the date, venue and time zone

Open the event and go to Settings. Confirm the start and end date and time, the venue and address, and the time zone. Every deadline and scheduled email on this event follows that time zone.

  3. Add sub-events, if there are any

Still on Settings, scroll to Sub-events for parts of the event with their own timing, such as a dinner or a golf day. Add a sub-event with its own name, date, venue and capacity. Tick Guests answer for this separately if you want a separate RSVP question for it.

  4. Check the RSVP form questions

Go to the RSVP form tab, then Form builder. Every event starts with one question, "Will you be able to join us?" Add, reorder or remove the questions guests answer, such as dietary requirements or a plus-one. If you added a sub-event with its own RSVP, add its question here too.

    • The main attending question cannot be removed.
  5. Publish the form

On the Form builder, click Publish. This makes your questions the version guests see. If you edit the form again later, click Publish again to put the changes live.

  6. Set the RSVP rules

Back on Settings, under RSVP rules, set the RSVP deadline, what happens after it (lock the form, accept late answers, only allow cancellations, or show who to contact), and whether guests can change their answer. Under RSVP link, choose whether a personal link is enough or guests also need a PIN.

  7. Add branding and a header image

Go to the RSVP form tab, then Page design. Set the headline, intro and colours, upload a logo with Upload logo and a header image with Upload hero image, and add any extra blocks. Click Save page design when done.

  8. Go live

When the event is ready, open the event overview and click Go live. This switches RSVP links on. No emails go out on their own, so guests only get invited once you send them (see the invitations guide).
